1. About These Terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Meat Index website and services ("the Service"), operated by Foodex Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
2. The Service
Meat Index is a business directory for the UK and Irish meat industry. The Service provides:
- A searchable directory of meat industry companies across the supply chain.
- The ability for businesses to submit and manage their own listings.
- Company group profiles linking multi-site operators.
- A jobs board for meat industry vacancies.
- Standard and Featured listing options for enhanced visibility.
- Banner advertising opportunities.
3. User Accounts
Certain features of the Service require you to create an account. When creating an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information.
- Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with others.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.
- Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Business Listings
4.1 Submitting Listings
When submitting a business listing, you represent and warrant that:
- The information you provide is accurate, current, and not misleading.
- You have the authority to submit information on behalf of the business.
- The listing does not infringe any third party's intellectual property rights.
- The business operates within the meat industry supply chain or provides services to it.
4.2 Listing Claims
If your business already appears in our directory, you may submit a claim to manage the listing. We will verify your identity and relationship to the business before approving any claim. We reserve the right to reject claims at our discretion.
4.3 Content Moderation
We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove any listing at our sole discretion, including listings that contain inaccurate information, inappropriate content, or violate these Terms. We are not obligated to publish any listing submitted to us.
5. Paid Services & Payments
We offer premium listing upgrades, featured job postings, and banner advertising for a fee. When purchasing premium services:
- All prices are displayed in GBP and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
- Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
- Paid features are activated upon successful payment and remain active for the purchased duration.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at [email protected] for refund requests.
6. Jobs Board
The jobs board allows employers to post vacancies and job seekers to browse opportunities. When using the jobs board:
- Employers are responsible for the accuracy of job postings and compliance with employment law.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of any job posting or the suitability of any candidate.
- We are not a party to any employment relationship formed through the Service.
- Job postings that are discriminatory, fraudulent, or otherwise unlawful will be removed.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Scrape, harvest, or collect data from the Service using automated means without our written consent.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to it.
- Use the Service to send unsolicited communications or spam.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state your affiliation with a business.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, layout, text, graphics, and software, is owned by or licensed to Foodex Ltd and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.
By submitting content to the Service (including business listings and job postings), you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Service.
9. Third-Party Data
The Service may include data sourced from third parties, including Companies House, the Food Standards Agency, and other public registers. While we endeavour to keep this information accurate and up to date, we do not guarantee its completeness or accuracy. Users should independently verify any critical business information before relying on it for commercial decisions.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Foodex Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100, whichever is greater. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Foodex Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party's rights.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
